Dogs have the most generous souls. They are always willing to forgive no matter what was done to them.
Teddy looks like a teddy bear, so he’s aptly named. He is a very gentle dog, that he does not mind if young children pet him. Teddy lets strange dogs come to sniff him. He seems to love it when a lot of people come to pet him.
Teddy was not always this positive. Gia Raimo, Teddy’s foster mom, felt her heart broke when she learned his story.
Teddy was originally bred for meat. He came from a slaughter farm in South Korea. He was in a fenced-in kennel with three or four other dogs, and his water bowl was full of dirty water.
Despite Teddy’s depressing condition, he still wagged his tail and seemed glad to see humans. Fortunately, a rescue organization, the New York Bully Crew, saved him and flew him to the United States.
When Teddy arrived, he’s terrified and did not want to come out of his kennel. He went through so much, but he was finally able to pull through. Teddy went home to his foster mom to complete his recovery.
The first time that he came out of the house, he sniffed and explored around. He spent all his life in a kennel that he did not know how to walk on a leash, and he’s lethargic when Gia wanted to take him out for walks. He was not affectionate either. He’s terrified to do a lot of things like walk up the stairs, but he eventually learned how with a lot of encouragement from Gia.
Teddy had a bad eye when the organization rescued him. It went unnoticed and untreated because of his unfavorable living conditions in South Korea. When he arrived in the U.S., Teddy had surgery to remove his eyes.
After his surgery, there were noticeable changes in his demeanor. He seemed to be much happier and affectionate. He looked forward to walks and played more. It’s heartwarming for Gia to see him come alive and that she was a part of his healing process.
