Getting confined in the hospital nowadays is more difficult due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. With the global crisis, no visitors are allowed to enter the hospital, making it extra difficult for the people who got confined. This is why it became difficult for this Kentucky man to communicate with his pooch.
The man is already terminally ill confined at the Norton Audubon Hospital, and his illness is not related to the COVID-19. However, due to hospital protocols, any visitors are not allowed to enter the premises. His pooch named Duke has been left alone for more than five days already.
According to the terminally ill man, he has no friends or family members to look after the pooch. This is the reason why the man began to panic for Duke. With the man’s desperation, he sought the help of his nurse, Penny Manning.
During this pandemic, stories about nurses going beyond their work for patients are common. But while it is common, Penny got shocked at the request of her patient. Even then, she assured the man that everything would be alright, and she would try to fulfill the man’s request.
The man’s request is no less to look after the pooch if ever he dies. Penny told the man to hold on because the nurse believes that the man will survive. Penny understands the inhibitions of the man, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.
Penny agreed to the request of the man because she pitied Duke. According to the man, Duke is already deaf and is almost blind because of old age. However, the man mentioned to the nurse that Duke is a great pooch. This is why Penny will not have a problem in looking after and taking care of the pooch.
