While we always include our dogs in all of our Christmas events, they actually miss out on one of the highlights of the holidays: listening to Yuletide songs. So in hopes of getting them into the holiday spirit, one pet food company called Tails.com decided to release what is believed to be the first-ever Christmas song for dogs!
The song entitled “Raise the Woof!” was explicitly created for canine listeners. To produce the piece, the company formed a group of 25 pups, who listened to over 500 different sounds. The team then noted the canines’ reactions to each of the sounds, and from there, picked out the ones that got the best responses.
Tails.com also made use of the fact that reggae and soft rock were apparently dogs’ favorite genres, according to several studies. They used a reggae beat as the basis of the song and threw in the sounds they noted, including bells, barks, squeaky toys, and phrases like “good boy,” “good girl,” “sit,” and “squirrel.”
When they released the song in an adorable music video, it immediately became a hit and attracted over 300,000 views within two weeks! Dog parents everywhere had played the song for their pups, and they typically responded with crazy barks and curious head tilts.
Tails.com said that these reactions signify that the pups were enjoying the track, and the company couldn’t be happier with the result. They hoped that the doggy Christmas song would gain more attention in the next few weeks as they would be releasing limited edition vinyls of “Raise the Woof!”
All the proceeds of the sale would be donated to Dudes and Dogs, an organization in the UK that brings men together to talk about their mental health while walking with dogs. Watch the adorable dog Christmas song’s official music video here.
