Taryn and Jenna Choquette adopted Tuukka when he was barely a month old. A friend of their friend found the kitten hanging on a tree in their neighborhood. The poor kitty was so small and he was alone, so the man took him down and brought him home. He wanted to foster the homeless cat until someone gives him a permanent home.
When Taryn and Jenna met him, they found the one-pound kitten so adorable that they decided right away to adopt him. Although they already have a dog, Brady, they know that their pooch is very friendly and would happily welcome the new addition to their family.
When Tuukka met Brady
When they brought Tuukka home, he was scared of everything. He hasn’t quite adapted to his new surroundings yet so they had to acclimate him slowly. That included being around Brady. So they put the little kitty in a separate room that had a glass sliding door. That way, the two creatures could see each other but won’t have any contact.
This will allow the scared kitten to get to know the dog but have full confidence that she is protected by the glass partition between them.
As expected, Brady wanted to become friends with Tuukka. Every day, the adorable dog would lie down by the glass door, just looking at the cat, waiting for the time when they can finally play. Tuukka would keep away from the glass at first, then as the days passed, he got braver and would come nearer to the partition.
When the couple saw that the cat was starting to trust the dog, they decided to finally formally introduce them. A week has already passed when the two had their close interaction. They brought their two pets in the living room where they sat on the couch and looked at each other. Tuukka made the first move. Brady sat still while the small cat approached him and touched his nose.
From then on, the two became inseparable.
Tuukka saw Brady as a parent. He would follow him everywhere and copy everything that he did. And as he grew up, the gentle dog taught him everything that he knew. That is why the cat started acting like a dog. He even sounded like one.
