Homeless dogs spend a huge chunk of their day-to-day lives looking for food. Sure, they meet humans who are kind enough to feed them every now and then, but this isn’t something they can bank on every single day. The only way for them to survive in this world (aside from avoiding abusive humans) is to go out there, rummage through piles of garbage, and look for something that can satisfy their hunger.
Since their choices are limited, stray pups can’t be picky eaters. They don’t care about the taste and quality of the food they eat. What matters more to them is putting something inside their empty stomachs.
A buffet of sorts
Don Kurt Damada was on his way to a mall in Davao City, Philippines, when he came across a homeless pooch. He was chomping on the dog food displayed outside a pet store. Worried the owner would shoo the pup away, Damada decided to keep the fluff ball company.
Some minutes later, he grabbed his phone to document the whole thing. He joked about how the canine was sampling different brands of dog food. He added that it was a free product survey, and that pup was giving honest feedback.
The video received over a million views when Damada posted it online. It also received more than 18,000 reactions and 20,000 shares from Facebook users. People were so pleased by accommodating the store staff was to the pup that they decided to track down its exact location.
A safe space for dogs
Some of the people who watched the video asked if the owner knew about what the dog was doing. Those who’ve been to the store answered in the affirmative. They even added that the owner leaves the sacks of dog food outside the store open so strays can access food that’s nutritious and delicious.
