Some heroes don’t wear capes; rather, they have fur! Yes, dogs are some of the world’s most unsung heroes, saving their humans even centuries after their domestication.
There are several reasons why dogs are the top choice for families to have as pets: they are loyal, compassionate, and have an uncanny sense of being able to tell when their human is in immediate danger. That is beside their playful and loving nature.
One such dog that has all the qualities of a hero is Matyas. When Matyas and her owner’s granddaughter was out for a swim in the ocean near Gouville-Sur-Mer, France, the dog couldn’t help but show her favorite play buddy, how vital her safety is to him.
As the little girl is having fun in the water, Matyas never took his eyes off of her. He was always on alert, prepared to save her should he feel she’s in danger. Matyas seemed concerned about the waves that came crashing to the shore, but the little girl enjoyed the water so much.
When the big wave swept the little girl, Matyas decided that the water was too dangerous for his human, and so, Matyas grabbed on to the little girl’s shirt and carefully dragged her towards the shore. Even though the little girl wasn’t really in any danger, it is adorable how Matyas tried to protect her by taking her out of the water.
As Matyas is dragging her, the little girl found his actions amusing as she laughs at how Matyas reacted to her being in “imminent danger.” It wasn’t until Matyas was sure that his little human was safe from any danger did he let go of her.
The video of Matyas’ heroic act has since been viewed more than a million times and has become a viral hit. The video only proves that dogs will do whatever they can to protect their human—their family.
