A lot of dogs have a knack for making friends wherever they go. It’s why many of us see them as one of the best furry companions in life. They love to bring and spread happiness anywhere their little paws take them.
This trait often leads to them becoming friends with the most unlikely creatures. But it’s always a touching moment to see how their kindness gets them caught up in peculiar little situations. Whatever size or species it is, a good dog will never fail to get into your heart.
One precious 2-year-old Great Pyrenees has a quirky hobby every time she accompanies her owner to the park. Fiona is not like most dogs who love to play and run around wildly. This adorable dog prefers a more gentle activity – making new friends and saying hi to them.
However, these new friends are not her fellow dogs or even humans. They are much smaller and live underground. As it turns out, Fiona likes to be friends with the gophers at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
In a video captured by her owner, the curious Fiona is chilling beside a gopher hole. She looks on with fascination as a tiny gopher emerges from its burrow on the ground. Instead of pouncing or chasing after it, Fiona maintains eye contact, seemingly telling the rodent not to fear her.
After a few seconds, the gopher sinks into its hole but pops back up instantly again. It stares straight into the eyes of the gentle dog before hiding its head once more. The shy little gopher seems hesitant in interacting with the gentle giant. Nonetheless, Fiona is determined to strike a friendship.
Alas, the sweet and patient Fiona got the chance to say hi to her new buddy. She slowly leans closer and sniffs the goffer before it got shy again. The gopher continues dipping and re-emerging from its hope while Fiona attempts another contact.
Fiona’s owner shared that this activity was the dog’s favorite back in May, and it’s often hard to get her to leave. The two spent long hours of hanging out beside countless gopher holes in the park. Many of these gophers came to say hi to the gentle and adorable Fiona.
